Nat Cursio

Natalie Cursio makes dance that channels into two streams: small choreographies that explore, process and comment upon issues and ironies around culture and nature; and curated projects that favour experiential and accessible platforms for audience to engage with contemporary performance. Natalie’s work has been presented in Taipei, Seoul, Busan, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Tasmania and throughout Victoria. She has been the recipient of an Asialink Residency, the Australian representative on the Little Asia Dance Exchange and a guest lecturer in choreography at the Korean National University of Arts.

Natalie is also a founding member of Homeless Dance Co, a nomadic company of 5 artists from 5 different countries. Natalie’s curated projects include With A Bullet: The Album Project (Arts House 2006, Full Tilt The Arts Centre 2007), Live Clips (for Union House Theatre / Mudfest 2007), Private Dances (2010 Next Wave Festival) and Action Stations (Campbelltown Arts Centre NSW 2011).  Recent choreographic projects include Recovery (with Shannon Bott and Simon Ellis, in development), Nature Strip (for VCA graduatings students 2008), Six for Gold (for Tasdance 2008) and the first stage of ‘reverse-mentoring’ project Crossing Quarters (with Don Asker, John Utans and Fiona Bryant).
