South Australian Playwrights Theatre
South Australian Playwrights Theatre Incorporated (SAPT) is a professional theatre company dedicated to the creation of new theatrical work that represents the diverse communities of our state. Also vital to our ethos is the creation of opportunities across all aspects of the creative industries including playwriting, dramaturgy, design, directing, film making, animation, choreography, performance and music composition.
Biography
Since 2017, SAPT has had numerous public staged readings to develop new work from experienced as well as emerging writers, staged five critically acclaimed theatrical productions and developed a reputation for creating powerful, relevant and uplifting work.
Two of its staged productions have been produced as audio serials through the Auscast Network and distributed through all major podcast providers including Spotify and itunes. And in 2020 the company was selected by Playwriting Australia as one of 25 national companies to create monologues for Dear Australia. The 50 works about the global pandemic were filmed and livestreamed with the written anthology available through Australian Plays Transforms.
