Cubed
ALISON CURRIE
A new work by Alison Currie, Cubed is currently in development.
Cubed is a sculpture installation and dance work for public spaces, performed by three dancers inside a clear box or ‘cube’. It is viewable from all four sides and choreographed to create complex visual rhythms from every vantage point.
The work expands on and references rhythms, patterns and systems existing in places of high pedestrian traffic. The work is a study of human interaction, the language of movement and the trajectories we follow in everyday life.
Cubed is inspired by inevitable human interactions in public space; the habitual and subconscious patterns that form individually, and express themselves in groups. The choreography is responsive to the individual’s movement language and how this effects, and is affected by, the movement of many. Cubed speaks to the knowledge that humans are creatures of habit.
