Tristan Meecham

Tristan Meecham is a performance artist who works with the grand and the ridiculous. He is passionate about connecting community, audience and artists together in events that transcend the everyday. One day he will collaborate with Grace Jones.

Tristan created The Coming Out Trilogy, three large-scale performance spectacles that include Fun Run, Game Show, and Miss Universe.  In Fun Run (2010 Next Wave Festival, 2011 Darwin Festival, 2013 Sydney Festival), Tristan runs a marathon on a treadmill live on stage supported by a cast of hundreds from the wider community. In Game Show (2014 Melbourne’s Arts House), contestants will compete for the chance to win everything Tristan owns. In Miss Universe, Tristan hopes to battle the one and only Grace Jones to determine who should be crowned the ultimate performer, the loser never allowed to perform again!

Tristan is an Artistic Associate of Aphids. His collaborations include Drive In Project (2013 Dromana Drive In), The Lady and The Tiger (2012 West Space Gallery), Thrashing Without Looking (2012 Mobile States National Tour), Fever Beach, (Associate Producer 2012) and The Family Show (2012 Salamanca Arts).  Tristan also works as the Philanthropic Manager for Aphids.  In 2014, Tristan and his collaborator Bec Reid will direct The Festival of Inspiration, in partnership with Victorian College of the Arts and The Margaret Lawrence Bequest.

Tristan completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) at QUT and Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Acting) at VCA, where he was awarded the inaugural Richard Pratt Scholarship for Outstanding Acting Student. He also works as a voice over artist, actor and teacher. Credits include Brendo in Being Brendo (2010–2013 VAC/ X;Machine Productions), an online soap co-staring Geoffrey Rush, Denise Scott and Judith Lucy, The Collector (2013 The Artisan Collective) and Cleansed (2008 Adena Jacobs). Tristan is a member of Green Room Awards’ Hybrid Panel.
