Peter Out, the Obsolete
inDevelopment Project
Peter Out, the Obsolete is a multi-disciplinary performance investigating the link between disposable culture, planned obsolescence (designed to break), abandonment and the ephemeral nature of human life.
The inspiration for Peter Out, the Obsolete is the phenomenon of dumped office chairs, usually found abandoned on suburban pathways. During Pill's solo residency at The Mill in 2023, these discarded chairs began to represent people, relationships, situations and environments.
The work is imagined as part installation and part live performance, including story, characterisation, comedy, pathos, image, movement, sound design and music/song, and audience participation. Through community engagement and shared discussion, the project will ponder whose stories are we telling, why are we telling them and for who?
This group work will build on those initial discoveries made by Pill during their residency.
