Sunshine and the Dark Cloud

inDevelopment Project

'Sunshine and the Dark Cloud' (Sunshine) is a new visual-theatre production for young audiences and their families by acclaimed visual artist and theatre maker Fleur Elise Noble.

‘Sunshine’ is the continuum of Fleur’s unique performance-based visual practice developed over the past 25 years, fusing the mediums of drawing, puppetry, animation, film, projection & live performance.

The project is made with young audiences for young audiences & their families, and follows on from Fleur's internationally successful theatre works '2 Dimensional Life of Her' and 'Rooman'.

The work tells the story of Sunshine, who lives on an island abundant with food, fun & the freedom of flight. Island life is good for Sunshine & her friends - until someone stole the sun from the sky. From darkness came light - a new kind of light, and the children were lured into a magnificent new reality, a place where boredom ceases to exist, sleep is overrated, & everything you want gets delivered to your door.

This perfect place turns out to be not so perfect after all, and Sunshine must help her friends to break free and take control of the forces that are controlling them.

The work aims to find creative ways to talk about digital addiction and empower young people to engage in creative collective action.
