The Cave

inDevelopment Project

In the thin blue line

The space between the sea and the sky

Exists a transitory place

Where magic happens…

THE CAVE is a multi-sensory art experience involving the fusion of saturated colour, light, laser, projection and sound in an immersive performance installation for all ages, that tells an intimate narrative around the concept of Time. The experience takes place in a large purpose-built space that represents a vast cave. Drawing on Plato’s allegory of the cave, and Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, THE CAVE takes the audience into an existence that stretches the limitation of human sensory understanding and alters the experience of time.

The cave structure is fully enclosed with white walls, floor and ceiling. It is designed to create a limitless space without borders or reference points. This is to assist in the sense of disorientation and complete immersion. The audience experience a 20minute contemplation of the universe, the earth and our place on it now and in the future. It explores the idea that we are living in a reality of our own creation, subject to our human sensory limitations as well as contextual and cultural norms and it asks us to consider new and non-linear ways to understand time.
