Club Muva

current Project

Club Muva is a community led performance event that accompanies the projected artwork In Muva We Trust and is designed to be a large-scale, evening-long, intergenerational and inclusive event.

Created by
Club Até

Club Muva explodes from the characters, themes and motifs in the projections of In Muva We Trust and out onto the streets for an evening of live performance, inspiring moments and spectacle. Opening with a procession of vibrant pageantry, performers beckon the crowd to ‘Club Muva’, a transformative space with a diverse program of performances with various members of the Queer, Asia-Pacifica, Indigenous, dance and artistic communities. The celebratory and inclusive essence of the night culminates in an audience-led dance party, where anyone and everyone can take centre stage in the dance circle.

This project is created through a community engagement let by Club Até. The project is framed through the realisation that as we move, journey and arrive, we remain connected simultaneously to our origin and our new community, with both experiences forging an integral part of our ever-evolving identity.

To create Club Muva, Club Até invite performers, artist-activists, cultural collectives and other creatives from the local community to participate in a creative collaboration. The objective of this community engagement is to find cultural and artistic meeting points, empowering and celebrating voices of diversity.

The community engagement may take the form of Club Até led, making workshops; choreographic or cultural collaborations. The curated programme of Club Muva will then feature outcomes from this engagement and may also include mini commissions for short performative moments; or purely an invitation to community groups to perform their own work.

The project aims to explore, harness and celebrate the transformative power of connectedness, storytelling and performance through togetherness.

“Speculative queer world-making at its finest, In Muva We Trust unfolds mythic and ancestral landscapes and bodies that envision a polychrome universe of possibility and potentiality.”
